Effect: Let an entire cigarette burn without the ash falling.
Secret: Hey Kids! SMOKING IS BAD FOR YOU!
But for adults who smoke, here's a way to slowly draw all the attention in the room to you. Insert a long quilting needle into your unlit cigarette. When you light the cigarette, let the ash sit, and in just a few minutes you'll have an ash 2-3 inches long!
Remember, the less you react to this event, the better it'll look. Just act like you'll get around to tapping the ash off any minute...but keep forgetting. How else can you do essentially nothing and get everyone to look over your way?

"LOL... if it makes a difference, I really don't smoke. Yet I strongly support the rights of smokers to do so...
(and not just because it makes so many magic tricks convenient)"
LOL.
For my next trick I need a cigarette. Can I get someone with a registered smoking license from this state to go to the nearest Smoking Containment Unit and ask one of the Licensed Cigarette Users to sign a release form to allow transfer of their cigarette to me through you (Here's the form and here's my license to perform magic with a government regulated and controlled substance).
Do you have a lockable cigarette case? Good.
While we wait, let's talk about magic from the Prohibition Era.
(I know some of you are thinking this would be a good idea  ).

I loved this one. Something I heard years ago was that Winston Churchill used to do this to his cigars when he would be in a meeting and would just act the way you are describing, laid back like you haven't noticed anything. After quite a while everyone would be looking at him even if he wasn't the one talking. I myself used to do something similar with a cheap toothpick for the same reasons as the guy using graphite. it would burn up and it someone was curious enough to look afterwards it just looked like a stem or something natural. Great Ep keep it up.
